Open Grounds, Shared Life: WestGate Church’s Community-Centered Landscape Vision

We’re excited to share the landscape design vision for WestGate Church’s Saratoga and South Hill campuses, and grateful for inviting us into this collaborative effort. Rooted in the church’s desire to strengthen its identity as a church family while bringing positive impact to the broader community, the landscape design intentionally blurs the boundary between church and city—creating spaces that are open, welcoming, and inclusive.

At the Saratoga campus, a sequence of public spaces unfolds around a welcoming plaza, outdoor seating, an activity lawn, and a flexible central stage, seamlessly extending the new office building and community café into the landscape. At South Hill, the renewed campus introduces an inviting entry plaza, outdoor seating areas, an event lawn, a pickleball court, and a community pocket anchored by a container-style coffee space and modular homes—together forming places of hospitality, belonging, and everyday connection for all.
